In 2021, it’s frequently claimed that committing to a plant-based lifestyle is the #1 thing a person can do to combat the climate crisis on an individual level. While this fact has slowly begun to nudge even the most avid carnivores towards eating no or less meat, a vegan diet is still often seen as a huge compromise when it comes to the enjoyment of food.

With this problem in mind, the mission of allplants founder Jonathan Petrides was to create a completely positive, delicious, and hyper-convenient option for plant-based eating. This offers those with the ethical inclination to ‘go vegan’ a way to do so without compromise or huge amounts of effort.

Sitting alongside other health-conscious or even plant-based meal-kit services, allplants is unique in its offering of a wide, varied and creative selection of completely ready-made, chef-prepared meals you can store and cook from frozen whenever needed.

The company has risen up the Startups 100 list into the top 10 from position 32 in 2020, in part owing to how it has continued to grow over the last 12 months; rather impressively, it now has the largest plant-based kitchen in all of Europe, run on 100% renewable energy.

On that note, it’s worth recognising that allplants is a certified B-corp that’s realised growth without straying from outstanding ethical standards when it comes to serving the community (it’s donated 40,000 meals to City Harvest at the time of writing), carbon neutrality, and the treatment of its employees.

The plant-based movement isn’t going anywhere anytime soon – nor is the growing demand for food convenience or, sadly, our climate concerns. With a commitment to customer-led innovation and lateral thinking to ensure it stays ahead of the market, there’s certainly scope for allplants to go further beyond 2021.
