After experiencing the lack of support at school for young people trying to break into the world of work first hand, in 2018 Jack Parsons founded The Youth Group, a startup geared to helping young people acquire the skills needed to secure employment.

Just three years down the line, Jack’s startup has over 50 employees and has already impacted the lives of over 90,000 young people. Currently focused on Jobs and mentoring, support for other useful areas, like skills and money management, is on the way shortly.

It’s clear The Youth Group has a deep understanding of the challenges young people face whilst trying to build a career in the 21st century.

Acknowledgment of the importance of role models, for instance, can be seen in the company’s MentorMe scheme, which matches young people with verified mentors.

Mental health is another priority – Mindset, a service offered by The Youth Group, is designed to help young people build up a better understanding of their mental health before employment. For those looking for more direct job hunting support, on the other hand, job coaches are on hand to support service users through complicated job-hunting processes.

Like a true trailblazer, Jack - whose book, 'How To Find Your Duvet Flip', is launching in November - isn’t shy about his global ambitions for The Youth Group, with the founder hoping to form an ‘international collective of youth first companies’ within the next five years.

Crucially, The Youth Group works to create change on both sides of the table. The organisation doesn’t just provide vital skills training and mentoring to young people, it also collaborates with over 700 organisations in the public and private sector on recruitment.

If The Youth Group has started as it means to continue, they’ll help thousands more young people achieve their true potential.
