Claimer was founded in 2019 by Adam McCann and Andrew Easter, when the pair decided to act on what they realised was a stark disparity. Namely, that every year, governments set aside billions of dollars in innovation incentives for SMEs globally – yet the barriers to actually accessing them are high.

Through a combination of strict eligibility criteria, time-consuming application processes, and a lack of specialist knowledge, small businesses are failing to collect the tax credits, grants, and local tax reliefs available to them.

Here, of course, is where Claimer comes in.

Despite just two years in the space, this fast-growing company already supports over 300 UK startups.

McCann and Easter founded Claimer to address two primary areas of concern: a lack of awareness of these government incentives, and the cost, time, effort, and specialist advice required to gain them. And – unlike the process of grabbing these grants – Claimer hasn’t been sluggish in its approach. Despite just two years in the space, the fast-growing company already supports over 300 UK startups, and climbs 21 places from its 96th placing in last year’s Startups 100 index.

It’s recovered millions of pounds of relief for British businesses, boasts a 100% success rate, and reports an average fee saving of £8,076.

With an aggressive, tech-oriented bent, Claimer is attempting to disrupt an industry traditionally characterised by lengthy, fixed contracts, hidden fees, and predatory sales tactics. Claimer’s pricing is transparent and upfront, and there’s little need for marketing – most of its business comes from word of mouth referrals.

So what’s next for McCann, Easter, and the Claimer team? Well, with the backing of some of Europe’s top investors, and further tech development on the way, Claimer is “planning a number of new breakthrough products that will represent a paradigm shift in the space”. What else will this fresh, future-focused company lay claim to in 2022 in beyond?
