With the ongoing climate crisis, the decarbonisation of commercial buildings in the UK is a problem that demands an urgent solution.

These buildings are responsible for 30% of carbon emissions, yet despite on-site solar solutions becoming cheaper and more accessible, only 5% of firms have adopted them.

This is where Metris Energy steps in – the UK’s first end-to-end solar platform for commercial real estate, with a mission to turn every building into a solar plant and every property owner into a power company.

Through its groundbreaking asset management platform, Metris Energy leverages the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to streamline the process of solar panel adoption through real-time data for solar installers, real estate owners and energy funds.

How does it do this? Simple. MetrisOS delivers instant property designs and proposals, helping property owners visualise the potential impact of solar installations on their projects. Users simply provide the building’s address and the platform runs instant feasibility assessments to determine its solar potential and predict energy savings throughout the project’s lifetime.

It also simplifies the Purchase Price Allocation (PPA) process through built-in credit checks, pricing calculations and forecasting – offering users the ability to manage asset performance efficiently through real-time data to automate monitoring and detect potential on-site faults before they happen.

Metris Energy first launched in 2023 but has already been able to secure an impressive £2 million funding from Octopus Ventures and Aenu VC. It also won an award for the “Most Ambitious” solution at the Kraken x Tech Zero hackathon in July 2024.

With strong investment backing and already making a significant impact in the energy industry, the company has big plans for the future, most notably its vision to power one terawatt (TW) of distributed energy resources, including solar, battery, EV and heating.

Metris Energy’s innovative approach to addressing the need for building decarbonisation makes it a true pioneer in the adoption of solar solutions. By combining AI technology with its ambitious vision for widespread sustainability, Metris Energy’s platform facilitates the transition to solar power, empowering property owners to contribute to a greener future.
