2025 Startups 100: UK’s Best New Startups Revealed

This year’s Startups 100 Index is the first ever made entirely of post-pandemic companies, and signals the start of a new era for UK business.

Our experts

We are a team of writers, experimenters and researchers providing you with the best advice with zero bias or partiality.

Welcome to the 2025 Startups 100 Index, the UK’s longest-running list of new businesses founded in the past five years. This year, we received a record number of new UK startups, which our expert team of judges then ranked into the final ‘100 to watch’ for the year ahead.

Now in its 17th year, our 2025 edition features 100 trailblazing companies that have all been founded in or after 2019. As the first ‘post-COVID generation’, the 2025 Index is a bellwether for the future of UK recovery and growth, and what the new world of business looks like.

After appearing in the Startups 100 Index top ten twice before, our 2025 winner is Lottie. The startup is revolutionising the adult social care sector with its care finder platform that enables care seekers to look out for their loved ones, and providers to better aid their customers.

Our runner-up for 2025 is Robin AI, a legal startup using AI to automate contract reviews, slashing costs and freeing up legal teams. In third-place is Yonder, a customer-centric credit with rewards that people actually want to use (and a nine-figure valuation to boot).

They might be leading the pack, but the full index boasts 97 more weird, wonderful, and worthy treasures spanning multiple sectors, from a device that scans sewage for disease, to the world’s first 3D-printed body armour.

In previous indexes, we’ve identified startups that are now household names, such as Deliveroo, Monzo, and Revolut. Discover who we’re naming the top 100 startups for 2025, and a sneak preview of the trends that will shape the UK’s recovery and growth this year.

How did we find our top 100?

The Startups 100 Index attracts a broad and diverse array of talent every year, thanks to our accessible judging process. We do not charge entrants to apply, and we only ask that applicants are UK-based and have launched in the previous five years.

Applicants deliver a comprehensive self-assessment, telling us everything about their financial performance to their five-year vision. Once the judging process commences, we evaluate how well each submission performs against five key criteria:

  • Financial Performance
  • External Validation
  • Market Opportunity
  • Idea Innovativeness
  • Strength of Concept

Once scored, these ratings are then carefully considered and weighted to determine each startup’s overall ranking within the Startups 100 Index.

Keen to get involved? If you’re a startup founder with a groundbreaking idea, keep an eye out for entries to open for the 2026 Startups 100 next year.
