Self-taught IT developer and technical design expert Chris Harrison co-founded Collstream in 2005, aged 26. Since then, the Derby-based business has grown into a leading provider of SMS, voice messaging and IVR solutions to clients including utility companies, Premier League football clubs and retail stores. Due to Harrison’s and co-founder Ian Maxfield’s decision to eschew external investment, the business has remained debt-free since day one.
This makes its 2012 turnover of £3m, and its 50% year-on-year growth, arguably even more impressive. Harrison is now predicting continued strong growth and expansion into new markets as use of mobile technology and SMS continues to increase.
