The Young Gun-founded online retail marketplace used by Apple, Nike and Kanye West will expand on its current 4,000 spaces across the UK and Paris

Appear Here, the online marketplace for short-term retail space founded by Young Gun Ross Bailey, has announced its first move into the US market with the launch of a New York City operation.

Two of the world’s biggest real estate firms Blackstone and Simon Property Group, as well as some of the biggest in New York including Thor Equities and Brookfield, have signed up to the Appear Here prelaunch to list exclusive spaces in desirable locations such as Chelsea, West Village, Soho and Williamsburg.

Founded in 2013, the Startups 100 top ten company allows brands, retailers, designers and entrepreneurs to find short-term retail space online, with over 4,000 spaces currently listed across the UK and France.

More than 80,000 brands worldwide, including the likes of Apple, Nike, Louis Vuitton, Kanye West and Chanel, use Appear Here and are each matched with their own personal concierge, while landlords can access real-time data on demand and financial performance.

Bailey commented: “More than ever, designers, brands and entrepreneurs are realising that renting space online is the fastest and most flexible approach to retail. We’re excited about the opportunity to bring our award-winning platform and service to the US, starting with New York.”

Zachary Beloff, director of business development at Simon Property Group, added: “Simon’s high visibility, upscale centers in the New York area provide the ideal backdrop to test new concepts.

“We believe that Appear Here’s unique product and community of forward thinking international retailers, new brands, makers and independents will benefit from our highly engaged audiences who seek out and avidly consume interesting experiences.”

If you’re a burgeoning business, you can find a space in New York City for your brand here.
