Insurance tech firm Buzzmove secures super-seed £6m funding

Company will use funding to develop online platform which enables consumers to create digital inventory and compare and book certified movers

Buzzmove, an insurance tech start-up, has raised £6m in super-seed funding led by White Mountains Insurance Group.

Founded in 2014, Buzzmove is a price comparison and booking platform for the moving industry. It allows consumers to create a digital inventory of their belongings and compare and book certified movers. It also provides moving companies with professional surveying software.

The start-up previously secured a $650,000 seed round after graduating from Telefónica’s global tech start-up accelerator Wayra. It recently participated in Startupbootcamp InsurerTech, which claims to be the world’s first insurance tech-focused accelerator.

The funding will be used to fuel the continuing development of Buzzmove’s new platform.

Rebecca Downing, founder of Buzzmove, said: “Buzzmove aspires to be to home and household contents insurance, what telematics is to motor insurance, enabling truly personalised home and household contents-based insurance policies.”

Sabine VanderLinden, managing director of Startupbootcamp InsurTech, added: “We foresee huge potential for Buzzmove’s solution within an insurance sector that is seeking improved customer engagement via digitisation.”
