Here’s one for the eco enthusiasts out there. KinKind – a start up based in the South East of England – is on a mission to eliminate plastic bottles in UK bathrooms, thanks to its 100% plastic-free hair and beauty bars.

Unlike your typical bottle of shampoo or conditioner, KinKind’s bars are fully vegan and cruelty-free. Manufactured entirely in the UK, they also include zero plastic packaging, and can be delivered directly through the letterbox with an easy unboxing experience.

So what makes the KinKind mission so essential? Well, according to KinKind, each UK household uses an average of 480 plastic bottles per year – with less than half being recycled.

Originally created during the pandemic, with the help of a £25k government-backed Startup Loan, by the end of 2022 KindKind had already saved over 320,000 plastic bottles from becoming part of the global waste pollution issue.

That’s not enough for Coe, who is determined to create more positive change this year. “It needs all the family to do it together,” she told Startups. “That’s why Kin is in the name, as the brand is all about being Kind to our Kin.”

More brands are dipping their toes in the eco-friendly lifestyle, but KinKind stood out to our judges as a purpose-led brand with an authentic mission at its core. Aside from the product’s benefits, Kinkind also offers a refer-a-friend benefit scheme, free delivery, and in 2021, won the Natural Health Beauty award.
