Since the post-COVID boom in health and wellbeing, the market has become inundated with vitamins and supplements, leaving many of us buying numerous products to find the right combination to tackle our personal nutritional needs.

Rem3dy Health CEO Melissa Snover grew so frustrated with having to ingest multiple tablets to meet her health requirements that she decided to build a more convenient – and personalised – way to take all of her daily supplements in one go.

The result is Nourished, a disruptive new vitamin brand that makes personalised, 3D-printed gummies. Nourished’s small team of five spent 18 months developing unique technology that it claims to be a world-first. Customers fill out an online quiz on the Nourished website, which will then recommend the seven nutrients best-suited to their lifestyle and nutritional needs. The company’s 3D printer tech then layers each ingredient on top of the other to make a ‘super-nutrient’ health treat that’s tailored to an individual.

Having already expanded into the US, Nourished also plans to launch in France, Italy, and Japan.

Nourished is also focused on improving the health of the planet, not just its customers. Shoppers don’t need to feel guilty over binning empty plastic pill bottles every month, as each Nourished gummy packet is 100% vegan, plastic-free, and fully compostable.

There is huge potential in Nourished’s business model. Certainly, it’s feeding investor appetite. In 2019, the Birmingham-based startup secured £1.95m in the highest seed round ever raised by a female founder. Since then, Nourished has gone on to raise a further £8m in a successful Series A, launched a children’s range, and partnered with big-name retailers such as Selfridges and Colgate.

The company’s ambitions aren’t limited to the UK, either. Having already expanded into the US, Nourished also plans to launch in France, Italy, and Japan.
