Based on our first-hand user testing, our favourite AI website builder was Wix ADI. With an easy and intuitive setup, you don’t need to know much about AI to get a website prototype in minutes. All you need to do is provide a couple of details about your company, select the features you want to include, and pick a theme. The best part is that you can easily switch to the standard Wix editor directly from ADI, allowing you to tweak the prototype created by ADI However, you can’t switch from the normal Wix editor to Wix ADI – it’s just a one way street.
During our independent research, we also found Wix to be the easiest website builder to use.
Wix ADI has its own stock photos and is linked with Unsplash, which makes it really simple to set up the visuals of your website without worrying about copyright infringement. You can also easily set up buttons to include a web address, a document, email, phone, or PayPal donations. Wix ADI also guides you through optimising your website’s SEO.

Therefore, if you want your website to look unique, you’ll need to invest more time customising it before it’s ready to go live. Nevertheless, Wix will soon release its AI Site Generator and will be collaborating with ChatGPT, so watch this space as Wix strengthens its AI muscle.

Most AI website builders will only allow you to translate prompts into a whole website prototype, rather than use AI to tweak specific bits and pieces of the site. This is not the case with Framer AI.
You start out with a prompt that Framer will convert into a website prototype, giving you both a mobile and desktop version. You can then ask it to generate specific bits of your site, from copy to the visuals. This saves you an extra amount of time as you can just redo segments of the website until you’re happy with the result.
For an extra layer of functionality, Framer also integrates with popular third-party apps, including YouTube, Lottie, Eventbrite, SoundCloud. Although we found the website prototype to be very basic during our tests, you can easily rewrite your prompt until you get an output you’re satisfied with.
You can publish a site for free, or you can upgrade to a Basic plan, which will give you access to your own hosted personal site with a custom domain and a Content Management Software (CMS). Just like Wix, you can migrate projects across platforms. If you’ve used Figma before, you can carry over a project from Figma to Framer.

Hostinger is one of the cheapest website builders, and it’s making big strides in AI.
Its AI website builder is equipped with a generous host of tools, including a content writer , a logo maker, and a heat map analysis. This means its AI website builder goes beyond just translating a prompt into a website prototype. The best part is that its AI tools are included with all web hosting plans, so if you already use Hostinger, you don’t have to worry about increasing your spend.
However, when we tested Hostinger, we thought its output was pretty basic and lacking when compared with other AI website builders like Wix or Framer AI. Text was overlapping, the pictures were unrelated to the prompt, and it looked way too basic to be a site that could go live on the internet. It also doesn’t allow you to switch templates, limiting your creative flexibility. If you’re willing to put in the time to customise it and build it up to your liking, you’ll end up with a very secure website.
A plus is that Hostinger offers various security features, including unlimited Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificates, cloudflare-protected nameservers, and automatic backups. All of this is great for building trust with your customers, which is key when you consider that many of your clients could be worried about how AI processes data.

Although GoDaddy doesn’t have a full fleshed AI website builder offering, it has AI tools that you can easily integrate into the website builder if you’re taking out (or already have) a subscription. You’re also spoilt for choice when it comes to integrating GoDaddy’s tool into your website building process.
You will have access to an AI text creator and a ChatGPT integration. This is great for business owners who are not natural wordsmiths, or want to save time on copywriting. You can also use its online store product descriptions which do what it says on the tin – it writes up product descriptions for your inventory so you don’t have to. During testing, we found we still had to tweak some sentences and words to fit our target audience, but it did save us a lot of time.
GoDaddy also has other useful AI builder tools, but these won’t always be relevant when you’re building a website. For instance, its Small Business Generative AI Prompt Library can help business owners with content creation, which includes creating marketing ideas, fleshing out content calendars, and even responding to a difficult customer. These scenarios will only really be relevant once your website is set up and you’ve started interacting more with customers. In other words, it’s not that they’re not useful, just not during the early stages of your new site.

Midjourney
This can be a fantastic source of inspiration for your page designs or for the small creative elements that give a website its personality. All you have to do is create an account on Discord (if you don’t already have one) and join the Midjourney channel. Based on your prompt, the chat will produce images. The handy part is that it only takes 60 seconds and you can get different variations of the one request.
However, we recommend taking out a subscription because, when we tried using it, the platform was really busy and asked us to ‘come back tomorrow’ to try again. The risk here is that Midjourney is a public access source on Discord, which means everyone can see the images you’ve asked the system to produce. This means you won’t really have ownership over them and they can easily be taken by other websites. You’ll have intellectual property rights with a paid membership, however.
ChatGPT
ChatGPT can be incredibly useful for coming up with the copy needed to fill up your website. You can give it a prompt and it will automatically write text that can be used for your ‘About Us’ section or for your ‘Our Mission’ page.
