20 young entrepreneurs to watch in 2017

Across the UK, young people are leading the charge in launching successful start-up businesses.

In fact, recent research from Microsoft indicated that businesses founded by young entrepreneurs were more likely to have healthier finances, whereas those with older founders – particularly those aged 55 and over – were more likely to run at a loss.

While we’re not saying that every business founded by a young person has succeeded, or will succeed, there are many young entrepreneurs in the UK who have already launched companies that have scaled and hit major business milestones while only in their teens or early 20s.

The success stories of these UK young entrepreneurs warrant recognition and should be celebrated – not least to provide role models for other young people who may not necessarily feel that going to university, entering full-time employment etc. is right for them.

Enter the 20 young entrepreneurs to watch in 2017 index: The annual showcase of the country’s best and brightest young start-up founders aged 25 and under.

During the process of compiling this index, where we assessed entries and considered entrepreneurs based on business traction, finances, clients and more, the team at Startups Towers were often left in a state of amazement and awe:

‘How do you come up with an innovative business idea at the age of 8?’, ‘How do you build a popular brand like this by the time you’re 13?’, ‘Why wasn’t I running an online empire while at college?’

It’s incredible, and hugely inspiring, as to what these young business owners have accomplished all before reaching their 26th birthday.
