Did you know a baby uses roughly 5,500 nappies until they’re potty trained? And that a single nappy sits in a landfill for over 500 years? It’s a dirty industry secret. But it’s also a hard problem to tackle. Not everyone has the time (or desire) to combat reusable nappies.

Enter Peachies, an upgrade to the humble nappy that’s engineered for revolutionary softness, longer nights, and more sustainable wear. Peachies’ nappies are made from 25% plant-based materials and save up to 93 tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions per 1,000 babies per year.

The brand knows parents’ pain points. Peachies are made to be the perfect fit and offer maximum performance with three times higher absorbency than a regular nappy – giving parents a better chance at getting some much needed sleep. It also offers a subscription service to ensure that parents never run out of nappies, and has 25% off for twins.

“The majority of nappies on the market leak, use harmful, toxic ingredients, and cause serious irritations on baby’s skin, eyes and lungs,” says Mixon. “They also feel like a plastic shell, emphasising the fact that the majority of nappy components (around 90%) are still oil-based.

“Peachies uses plant-based materials, such as 100% totally chlorine free fluff pulp from sustainably managed forests, and efficient plastics, to reduce the overall impact of our nappies.”

Having appeared in the Startups 100 in position #89 at the start of last year, 2024 proved to be a year of wins for the startup. Peachies raised over £900k to bring total funding to £1.4m. Backers include Anotherway Ventures and Antler, as well as high profile angel investors.

Most excitingly for its green-eyed founders, Peachies also earned B Corporation certification at the end of last year, which Suppan described as a “natural next step” for the business.

It’s achieved enough to give its founders a year’s worth of restful nights, but Peachies’ ultimate goal in the coming years is to become the leading nappy brand in Europe and the UK and serve one million families.

Startups loves Peachies’ dedication to supporting parents and providing a more sustainable nappy option. We’re naming it a top 100 startup for 2025, and a win-win for dads, mums, and babies’ bums.
