Owning your own set of wheels doesn’t come cheap. Not only do you need to cover the initial cost of the vehicle – which depreciates over time – you also need to fork out for insurance, MOT, and breakdown cover. This isn’t even to mention the cost vehicle ownership has on the environment, with 26% of the UK’s CO2 output currently originating from the transport industry.
Fortunately, Wales-based electric vehicle (EV) provider Voltric is on a mission to remedy this. The company, which was founded by Julian Mensah and Brent Oldfield in 2019, provides an all-inclusive subscription service for electric vehicles and other mobility solutions.
Voltric differentiates itself from its competitors by focusing on Mobility as a Service (MaaS) rather than just Car as a Service (CaaS). This means that it aims to incorporate other transport services beyond driving, such as parking, public transport, and micro-mobility.
The company-integrated solutions will initially include parking, tolls, charging, and their AI-powered Smart Navigation feature which will help users access community chargers and identify sustainable routes. However, as Voltric continues to scale, they’re aiming to introduce more mobility solutions to their arsenal – including public transport and micro-mobility options.
Despite being a budding company, Voltric is off to a flying start. The MaaS provider has already completed a proof of concept with a dealership to get cars on a subscription, 10xed its revenue, and raised £427,000 in angel investment.
Voltric addresses real-world challenges felt by the UK’s 23 million-strong commuter sector, so we’re very excited to see the company continue to rev up its growth engine going forward.
