Nila is a platform that helps non-resident families provide reliable, professional care for their elderly relatives back home.

Founder: Anthony Jacob
Year founded: 2024
Website: nilacares.com

When you live in a different country to your elderly loved ones, you aren’t around to oversee their care. Managing treatments and coordinating doctors remotely is tough, and making cross-border payments – with remittance fees and currency conversion rates to consider – only adds to the stress.

These were the struggles Anthony Jacob experienced when caring for his own parents from overseas. Arranging doctor visits, dealing with unexpected health issues, and sending money back home to fund the care was exhausting.

But he soon realised that it wasn’t just his struggle – it’s something millions of immigrants face. That’s when he decided to create Nila.

Launched in 2024, Nila connects non-resident Indians (NRIs) living in the UK and US with over 120 professional care managers based in more than 10 Indian cities.

These carers provide reliable, personalised care for non-resident families’ elderly relatives, so they don’t have to manage everything from afar. Carers give families real-time updates about their loved one’s care through the Nila app, and offer 24/7 support in case of emergencies or unexpected situations.

After an intense period spent networking and searching for the right investors, Jacob’s idea soon took off. In October 2025, Nila raised $2.4m in a pre-seed funding round led by LocalGlobe, with participation from Redbus Ventures and angel investors connected to Revolut, Nala, and Wise.

Major media outlets have also shared the company’s story and solution, giving it a serious boost in visibility and showcasing the impact of Nila’s work in helping families care from afar.

As for what’s in store for the future, Jacob aims to take Nila public. He also has ambitions to expand further across India and enter new diaspora markets, strengthen partnerships with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and remittance platforms, and offer more personalised care plans that are tailored to individual needs.

With a clear mission and growing support, Nila is poised to transform how immigrants care for their loved ones back home – making long-distance eldercare simpler, more reliable, and much more personal.
